Keratoconus is an important disease affecting the corneas of adolescents and young adults. If left untreated, the corneas tend to become steeper, thinner and more irregular causing a high amount of irregular astigmatism and loss of best corrected vision with glasses. At late stages of this disease, the cornea can become extremely thin wherein the structural integrity and its transparency can be compromised. Corneal Collagen Cross-linking with Riboflavin arrests the process of keratoconus, thereby decreasing further chances of progress of this condition. The CL-UVR machine is a homogenized UV delivery system which is used to activate the Riboflavin dye to form the collagen bonds in the corneal layers, thereby increasing the strength of the cornea.
